Enshi’y Adivay?
November 4, 2007… hmmm I just heard that there will be no adivay this year? Well, from what I heard last month, I guess our Gov is still adjusting to new and bigger responsibilties in the Capitol. They said that the Adivay activities, together with the Benguet Foundation Day celebration, should have started last Oct 18. I asked somebody from Capitol that they only had meeting for these activities– a week before Oct 18— and they had no theme yet at that time…
So I guess there will be more time to plan for the next Adivay— that would really bring together people from the different municipalities and provinces. I just hope and pray that the next Adivay would be another improvement from the previous Adivays.
This activity should not concentrate on profits but instead– strengthen the ties among people coming from different tribes (like the Ibalois, Kankana-eys, and Kalanguyas among others)… I just remember one letter to the editor I read in the Midland– that they traveled from a far Municipality but they were not able to pay for the P5.oo entrance fee so they stayed outside the ADIVAY "GROUNDS"… I hope this incident would not happen again— I guess this is one way of making the Adivay exclusive to some people who can pay P5.00 everytime they enter— and this is not JUST. The province already profited from the rent of the stalls so they should waive the entrance fee or at least make it more affordable like P2.00
Riverview Water Park
October 24, 2007One of the things you must do when you viisit Benguet is visit the hot spring resots at Tuba, Benguet
Last week, we had our planning workshop at the Riverview Water Park. I enjoyed their service. They provided us with good and delicious food plus I enjoyed my overnight stay in one of their family rooms with aircon.
I would definitely recommend that you visit the place. It is more or less a 30 minute drive from the Baguio City Hall You can also take the jeep near Kayang St or behind the main Police Station. Fare is only P19.50.
If you do not plan to stay overnight at the resort, make sure that you are waiting for a jeep, going back to the city proper, before 5pm .
Affordable TV Phones
October 23, 2007When I say affordable– I mean cost efficient– yes these TV phones have more features than a Nokia Phone. Most TV phones out in the market have dual sim features. It also has the touch screen fearture, although it is not a PDA phones– that other sellers claim just to sell. It is not a PDA phone but its features include the following:
- MP3
- MP4
- Organizer
- calculator
- games
- FM radio
- Analog TV (that depends on the signal it can receive for local channels)
- Dual or single camera 1.3 to 2.0 mp
- MMS capability
- expandable memory card that allows you to :
- record unlimited video
- record unlimited voice
These phones cost about P12,000.00 to P15,000.00 in Baguio. I tried the TV signal from Manila to Pangasinan and I really enjoyed watching during my trip in a Philippine Rabbit bus that had no TV.TV signal in Baguio gets GMA7, Channel 23 and ABS CBN— good enough. Unlike for smart TVphone, you have to pay separate fees for watching TV programs in your phone.
Calajo Man-ADIVAY!
October 22, 2007The chills of the "ber months" signals not only that Christmas is just around the corner. It also reminds us that the Benguet Foundation Day and Adivay Festival is only days away. Hmmm they said that Adivay 2007 should have started last October 18— but there seems to be no announcement about future activities to look forward too.
Last year, the ADIVAY was held at the Benguet State University track & field. They also had the first ever Silk Fashion Show that was participated by the Provincial Officials, headed by Gov. Borromeo Melchor, Dr. Rogelio Colting also modeled the creation of Bong Dysico…
The food court was fully packed that they didn't have enough food during lunch time on the Benguet Foundation day. Various Exhibitors showcased their products and there were programs at the middle of the field to spice up the day…
But that was last year… I'm just wondering how ADIVAY would look and feel like this year… hmm let's wait and see for further announcement.
