Beekeeping in Kapangan
April 6, 2006I used to dread bees, since the day one of its kind stung me years ago…
My trip to Kapangan, together with Dr. Klondy Dagupen and Prof. Tagarino, as a documentor was more than a learning experience for me.
The Philippine Inter-University Co-operation (PIUC) gave livelihood projects to the people of Kapangan through the LGU.
Mayor Leon, together with the Sanggunian, supported the projects entrusted to them. Livelihood projects on cattle raising and beeking was promoted to those who were interested and they were given training.

Trip to Heaven
April 5, 2006While reading this week’s issue of Baguio Midland Courier, I saw three familiar faces in the obituary. Of these three, two died in a hit and run accident.
Nelson “Boggs” Pucay, used to be my playmate when his family came for trips to the city. His dad was my lola’s nephew. I used to stay with my lola and lolo at Aurora Hill and whenever Boggs visited, we would play with my matchbox cars… and one time, he asked if he could take my toys home with him to Kabayan… I don’t remember exactly if I said yes or no…
Uncle Lazo, Boggs’ dad, and my dad were buddies years ago. This is the reason why Boggs was also named “NELSON”.
The last time I saw him was before I left for Laguna for college… 1997.
It was really dreadful to receive a text message about Boggs’ accident. We went to see him before they brought him home to Kabayan…
I was a bit teary eyed and I didn’t go see him at a closer range. One of my manongs have gone ahead and it was his time to leave…
——
Francis Dulnuan Mina. I met him through my cousin’s friend-Carol. I was back in the city when I met him. I was asking him about his roots because I have relatives who are Dulnuan(s).
I didn’t see Francis for quite sometime… whenever I see him– I really do not know if it was him I saw or his twin brother.
I have had short talks with him about family and he had lots of stories to tell. Some people see him as “mayabang”…Yes, he can be annoying when he gets “drunk” (a bit)… but he really is a nice person when you get to know him…
——
Life really is unpredictable. A Young Age does not signify any guarantee of being free from “an early call to meet the Creator”. That is why life should not be taken for granted. Do not wait for it to be cut short— because in the end, you cannot do anything about it.
Boggs and Francis, may you both rest in peace.

The people responsible for the deaths of Boggs and Francis should come to their senses. They have no right to stay behind the wheel and drive freely on our highways—
