What a bird!
April 13, 2006Did you– in your life– ever see an ostrich? A real live one?
I did see an ostrich at the Singapore Zoological Zoo– they are really the biggest birds on this planet!
Well, you don’t have to fly to Singapore to see these creatures because we have them here in Benguet.
These birds grow as tall as 2.43 meters (8 feet). It also lays as many as 60 eggs in a year. A mature ostrich is worth 80,000 pesos, while its chick can be bought for 15,000 pesos.
Ostrich meat is still considered an exotic food and restaurants charge as high as 800 pesos for a kilogram of ostrich steaks.
They are tasty too…
During a farewell dinner in one of the trainings I attended, the waiter asked me if i wanted salmon or ostrich— I chose ostrich stake! It was medium rare topped with mushroom gravy— it was delicious. The meat was tender and easy to chew.

It was almost 2am when i heard lolo calling for my lola. He slept on the sofa in the “sala” since last weekend. He slipped on his way to the bathroom… which caused the pain he feels right now on his lower left leg.
I just came from the other side… lolo was thirsty. So I decided to climb up the window to get water for him. (I don’t have keys to their doors) I really pity my lolo… he does not want to go for check up. I told him he should go so that the doctor can give him a good pain reliver.
I had to lift both legs to the sofa. lolo was saying “aaarrrraaay” so I didn’t know how to position his legs so that he could sleep comfortably… I watched lolo for awhile until he stopped saying “arrray”. I told him to just call my name when he needs something.
OLD AGE!??! i’m 26 and i feel like am very old. the lifespan of our generation is short— that is why “being 26 years old is old” …
Maybe some of you have relatives who reached their 90s… 80s…70s… how about us? are we going to reach one of those age?
Time will come when we can no longer stand on our own… we have to teach our children to respect their elders because we do not want them not to take care of us when we will need the love and care of their generation.
Plastic Bottles
April 10, 2006
Did you know that chemicals released by plastic water bottles can cause cancer?
(It is not the water that affecting you but the chemical releasing from the bottle)
How to avoid:
Check at the bottom of the bottle
for a triangle sign and there will
be a number in it.
If the number is higher than
or equal to 5 –> then this bottle is safe to use.
Whatever number under 5 will release
the carcinogenic chemical.
For most bottled water we have,
the number is 1.
